A video circulating online has brought attention to an incident during the September 21 protest in Manila, where a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) officer was seen dragging a young boy who allegedly caused a disturbance. The footage depicts the officer taking the boy to the second floor of a hotel along Recto Avenue, where the boy was reportedly assaulted by several men.

Despite the boy's pleas and cries, the video suggests that the police officer did not intervene to stop the attack. Authorities, including the Manila Police District and the hotel management, are being contacted for official statements; however, the Philippine National Police Public Information Office has not yet issued a response.

Following the incident, the hotel temporarily ceased its operations for repairs after individuals threw objects at its facade. Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso has engaged with the hotel management regarding the situation.

The protest also involved acts of vandalism in the vicinity, with some demonstrators damaging LED advertising boards and traffic lights along Recto Avenue and Taft Avenue. Additionally, a motorcycle on Recto Avenue and the wheels of a trailer truck on Ayala Bridge were set on fire.

The Manila local government has since undertaken cleanup efforts to restore order and repair damage caused by the rioters.

The incident highlights ongoing tensions and challenges faced by authorities in managing public demonstrations in the city.
