House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III revealed on Monday that the House leadership, together with the Ethics Committee, will deliberate on further actions to guarantee the presence of Ako Bicol party-list Representative Zaldy Co. This follows Co's failure to attend sessions in Batasan after a 10-day period commencing September 18.
During his first press briefing as the House Speaker, Dy stated, "The leadership will coordinate with the chair of the House Ethics Committee to determine the available options to ensure Congressman Zaldy Co returns home."
The Ethics Committee is chaired by 4Ps party-list Representative JC Abalos, who is part of the House minority bloc.
Previously, Speaker Dy rescinded Co's travel authority and mandated his return to the Philippines within 10 days from the issuance of the September 18 notice. Co is currently linked to a controversial flood control issue under investigation.
When questioned about Co's current location, Dy responded, "I have only seen some reports indicating his whereabouts."
The House leadership's forthcoming discussions aim to uphold accountability and ensure all members comply with their duties amid ongoing inquiries.
