Actress Klea Pineda has publicly addressed the persistent online harassment she endures, using her social media platform to highlight the issue for the first time.
On Instagram, Pineda shared her experiences of being targeted for her appearance, dress, content style, demeanor, and even her skin color. She noted that many criticisms are based on misconceptions and lack awareness of her personal circumstances.
Describing the impact of such abuse as emotionally challenging, Pineda explained how waking up to hateful comments from strangers affects her mental well-being. "I often tell myself not to read the comments anymore to protect my mental health, but it’s not easy," she admitted.
She revealed that despite her efforts, she sometimes reads comments, especially when she feels confident and proud of a post on platforms like TikTok or Facebook, only to be hurt by the negativity. "You have no idea how damaging words can be," she emphasized.
Pineda expressed her decision to share this message to raise awareness about the real pain caused by online bullying. "What may seem insignificant to some can deeply hurt others on the other side of the screen," she said.
Highlighting the severe consequences of cyberbullying, Pineda lamented that it often takes tragic losses before the gravity of the problem is widely recognized. She urged everyone to choose kindness rather than judgment, reminding people that no one has the right to judge others without understanding their story.
She concluded with a call for compassion: "Be an inspiration instead. Help lift others up. Let this be a reminder to those who find joy in bashing and judging people online to stop the hate and be kind."
Klea Pineda currently stars in the series "Open Endings," alongside Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Janella Salvador, and Leanne Mamonong.
In recent months, Pineda has been linked to Janella Salvador following Janella’s breakup with Katrice Kierulf. However, Klea has denied rumors connecting her to Janella’s split.
Her heartfelt appeal sheds light on the ongoing issue of online abuse and the importance of empathy in digital interactions.
