Cloudflare Outage Temporarily Disrupts Multiple Major Websites Including Truth Social
Benilda Vergara
Several prominent websites experienced temporary outages on Friday morning, with platforms such as US President Donald Trump’s Truth Social and the graphic design site Canva becoming inaccessible to users. The interruption was attributed to a malfunction within Cloudflare, a major American internet services provider responsible for security, traffic management, and optimization across numerous websites.
Visitors attempting to access affected sites encountered error messages referencing Cloudflare until approximately 0930 GMT. Dane Knecht, Cloudflare’s Chief Technology Officer, addressed the incident on the social network X at 0920 GMT, stating, "We are aware of the issue impacting the availability of Cloudflare’s network. This is not an attack."
Users of X also reported connectivity problems to various services earlier in the day, highlighting the ripple effect of the outage. Cloudflare manages about 20 percent of global internet traffic, making it a vital infrastructure player in the online environment.
This event follows a similar disruption in mid-November which caused extended downtime for numerous widely-used websites, underscoring the broad impact of Cloudflare service interruptions on internet accessibility.
