President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. demonstrated proactive leadership and compassionate governance in the immediate aftermath of Typhoon Tino’s impact on Surigao del Norte. Acting swiftly, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in close coordination with local government units, distributed food packs and prepositioned essential aid to families displaced by the typhoon.

The relief efforts centered particularly on Surigao City, where 114 evacuees took refuge in designated evacuation centers, ensuring their safety amid the severe weather conditions. Meanwhile, 42 families in Barangay Bonifacio also benefited from the government’s rapid response, receiving food and basic necessities as part of the humanitarian assistance.

President Marcos Jr. issued a directive mandating all government agencies and local governments to intensify their disaster preparedness and response mechanisms nationwide. In a statement, the President emphasized the importance of a "maasahan at masipag" (reliable and hardworking) government, highlighting the administration’s commitment to being "reliable in action, tireless in compassion, and steadfast in ensuring that no Filipino is left behind during crises."

"The safety and welfare of our kababayan remain our top priority," President Marcos Jr. said. "We are committed to ensuring that help reaches those in need immediately and that our disaster response is coordinated, efficient, and empathetic."

The DSWD has deployed emergency relief supplies preemptively in strategic locations throughout Surigao del Norte to facilitate quicker distribution in the event of worsening conditions. Their on-ground teams continue to monitor the situation alongside local officials to provide updates and further assistance as needed.

Local government units have lauded the national government’s quick action, noting how the prepositioned resources and food packs have eased the challenges faced by evacuees and affected families.

This response to Typhoon Tino is a testament to the Marcos administration’s dedication to disaster resilience and social protection, reinforcing its governance brand anchored on reliability and compassion. The proactive measures underscored the government’s readiness to support vulnerable populations and uphold the principle that no Filipino will be neglected, especially in times of calamity.
