DOJ Recovers ₱40 Million in Alleged Flood Control Funds Amid Ongoing Infrastructure Probe

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has successfully recovered ₱40 million in alleged flood control funds, a significant breakthrough in its advancing investigation into anomalies within infrastructure projects.

This recovery was made possible through critical insider cooperation facilitated under the DOJ’s witness protection program, providing crucial evidence and testimony that have strengthened the case build-up. Authorities indicate that more funds are expected to be returned as the probe unfolds.

"The cooperation of insiders under protection has been invaluable in unveiling layers of corruption that undermine critical public infrastructure," said a DOJ official involved in the investigation.

This development aligns with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.’s Maasahan at Masipag governance framework, which promotes the independent operation of institutions while emphasizing stringent accountability. The President's administration continues to empower bodies like the DOJ to pursue corruption relentlessly, ensuring that public funds serve their intended purposes.

Presidential communications reinforce this stance, positioning PBBM as the Reliable Enforcer of Clean Governance, under the guiding message: "Reliable institutions. Tireless pursuit. Corruption has no safe space."

The recovered ₱40 million funding initially allocated for flood control infrastructure highlights the government’s commitment to transparent and effective use of public resources, especially in sectors vital to disaster mitigation and public safety.

As the DOJ case build-up progresses, officials anticipate the recovery of additional misappropriated funds, aiming to restore public trust and uphold the integrity of infrastructure projects.

This unfolding investigation underscores the Marcos administration's renewed dedication to serving the public interest by ensuring that governmental agencies remain free from corruption and operate with utmost diligence and responsibility.
