Australian Man Arrested in Makati for Fake Identities and Immigration Violations

Herminio Cabanlit

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) apprehended a 33-year-old Australian man in Makati City on allegations of using multiple fake identities, overstaying in the Philippines, and other related offenses. The arrest was made by the BI Fugitive Search Unit during an operation conducted from the evening of September 15 to the early hours of September 16 on Pertierra Street, Poblacion.

Identified as Dayle Marc George Campbell, who also used the names Dion Munro and Daniel John, the suspect purportedly claimed citizenship in both Seychelles and Australia. Authorities received complaints accusing Campbell of utilizing bogus immigration documents.

Further allegations linked Campbell to drug-related activities and a history of abusive behavior. According to records from the Australian Embassy, he was previously reported for a violation of Republic Act 9262, the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004, related to a 2021 incident involving his live-in partner. He was also found in possession of unlicensed firearms.

Immigration records confirmed that Campbell entered the Philippines on February 22, 2020, with his Australian passport, having departed earlier with a Seychelles passport. Although initially admitted as a temporary visitor, he failed to secure a visa extension, rendering him an overstaying alien.

The United States Drug Enforcement Administration is also conducting an investigation into Campbell for suspected money laundering and narcotics trafficking. He reportedly maintains connections with an outlaw motorcycle gang and was found carrying falsified U.S. driver’s licenses under his various aliases.

Campbell remains detained under BI custody as he faces deportation proceedings based on multiple violations.
